Check which edition you bought before purchasing again. Website Mac, Windows and Mac App Store licenses are separate.

Website Mac or Windows: restore with your license key

These steps apply to the website editions of Klakk 1.4.1.

  1. Find the Creem purchase email for the same platform as your installed app: Mac or Windows.
  2. Open Klakk’s purchase screen and choose Restore Purchase. Paste the license key into Enter License Key, then choose Activate. Use the license key, not the order ID.
  3. Connect to the internet while activating. If the app still appears unpaid, note the exact message and contact support.

If an older order has no license key, or you cannot find the purchase email, contact support to check the order. Updating the app does not guarantee that a purchase will be restored.

Mac App Store: restore through Apple

Open the Klakk edition purchased through the Mac App Store and use its restore-purchase option. Sign in with the same Apple Account used for that purchase. A Creem license key is for the website edition.

Email support with your operating system, Klakk version, installation channel and the exact message shown. For a purchase lookup, include the purchase email address or order reference in that private email. Keep passwords, full card details and license keys out of your message.

Getting Started

Follow these simple steps to set up Klakk:

Download & Install

Choose the Mac or Windows installer on the download page. On Mac, open the DMG and move Klakk to Applications; on Windows, run the installer. The Mac App Store edition installs through Apple.

Launch Klakk

On Mac, open Klakk from Applications. Website Mac 1.4.1 runs from its menu bar icon. On Windows, open Klakk from the Start menu and look for its system tray icon.

Complete setup for your platform

For website Mac 1.4.1, enable Input Monitoring in System Settings → Privacy & Security and reopen Klakk if requested. In the Mac App Store edition, follow the installed app’s permission prompt. Windows does not use this macOS permission.

Choose Sound & Enjoy

Enable Klakk, choose a sound pack and set a low volume. Select an audio output in the app, then type in your usual app. Website editions start a 3-day trial on first launch.

Common Questions

Does Klakk work on Mac and Windows?

Klakk supports macOS 14 or later on Apple Silicon and Intel Macs, and Windows 10/11 on ARM64 and x64 PCs.

Can I hear the sounds through headphones?

Yes. Select your headphones as Klakk’s audio output. If Klakk uses the system default, select the headphones in your computer’s Sound settings. Playback does not reduce the physical noise of your keyboard.

How can I check the sound delay?

Try typing a few sentences during the free trial. Your audio device and connection affect timing; wired headphones or local speakers are useful for comparison with Bluetooth or remote audio.

How much does Klakk cost?

Try all 14 sound packs free for 3 days. The website editions for Mac and Windows each cost US$4.49 once through Creem. Each platform requires its own purchase, with applicable taxes shown at checkout. The Mac App Store edition uses Apple’s displayed price and has a separate license from the website Mac edition.

Troubleshooting

No sound plays

  1. 1. For website Mac 1.4.1, check Input Monitoring in System Settings → Privacy & Security. For the Mac App Store edition, follow the permission prompt in the installed app.
  2. 2. Check the output device selected in Klakk. If it is set to the system default, also check your computer’s Sound output. Test that device with music or a video; on Windows, check the volume mixer too.
  3. 3. Confirm Klakk is enabled, its volume is above 0, and the trial or license permits playback.
  4. 4. Try switching to a different sound pack
  5. 5. Restart Klakk by quitting and relaunching the app

Website Mac 1.4.1: permission issues

  1. 1. Open System Settings → Privacy & Security → Input Monitoring
  2. 2. Find Klakk in the list and toggle it ON
  3. 3. If Klakk is already enabled, toggle it OFF then ON again
  4. 4. Restart Klakk after making changes

High CPU usage

  1. 1. Close and reopen Klakk to clear any temporary issues
  2. 2. Check for a newer version through the installation channel described below.
  3. 3. If the issue continues, email support with your operating system, Klakk version and installation channel.

Website Mac 1.4.1: Input Monitoring

Why Input Monitoring permission?

Website Mac 1.4.1 processes keyboard events and physical key codes locally to play sounds while you type in other apps. It uses Input Monitoring. For the Mac App Store edition, follow its own permission prompt.

If macOS asks you to authenticate, follow the system prompt.

Find Klakk in the list and toggle the switch to ON

Updates & What's New

Update through the same channel you used to install Klakk. The website editions and Mac App Store edition can have different release versions.

Choose your installation channel

  • Website Mac edition: quit Klakk, download the latest Mac installer from the download page, and replace the app in Applications.
  • Website Windows edition: quit Klakk and run the latest Windows installer from the download page. An in-app update notice opens the download; you still run the installer.
  • Mac App Store edition: open the App Store and check for Klakk updates there.

Keep the same edition when updating. Windows, website Mac and Mac App Store purchases have separate licenses; changing channel does not transfer a purchase.
