How Klakk separates typed content, Input Monitoring, local settings, Firebase Analytics, StoreKit, and update checks.

Separate Local Processing From Network Activity
Bundled sound playback and key timing are processed on the Mac. Klakk does not save or upload typed text, but it is not a zero-network app: Firebase Analytics, StoreKit purchase and entitlement checks, App Store update checks, and support links may use the network.
What Is Not Included in Analytics
Input Monitoring and analytics are separate. Klakk does not include the following content in Firebase Analytics events:
- Your keystrokes or typing content
- Which applications you use
- Personal information (name, email, address)
- A history that links typed text to app-usage events
- Names you assigned to the Mac or audio devices
- Precise GPS location
Typed content is not sent to Analytics, StoreKit, or update checks. Firebase Analytics may process app-usage events, device and app information, and approximate region.
Required Permissions
Klakk requires one macOS system permission to function:
Input Monitoring
Why it is needed: To detect key timing while other apps are active and play the corresponding generated sound.
What Klakk states it does: Uses key events for local sound playback without recording, saving, or uploading typed text or individual key content.
Input Monitoring is separate from Accessibility. Review or revoke it in System Settings. Grant it only when the permission purpose matches the feature you want.
Local Data Storage
Klakk stores preferences in macOS UserDefaults. The trial first-launch date is stored separately in Keychain, Apple manages the authoritative StoreKit purchase record, and Firebase Analytics is a separate process.

Payment Information
Apple processes Klakk purchases through the Mac App Store. The current purchase model and renewal terms are shown on Apple’s purchase confirmation screen.

- We never see or store your credit card information
- Only purchase state needed for access checks is cached locally; StoreKit remains authoritative
- Apple manages the transaction record and refund workflow

Analytics and Data Collection
To improve Klakk and provide a better user experience, we use Firebase Analytics, a service provided by Google LLC.
Information Firebase Analytics May Process
- ✓ App-usage events: Launches, screens, feature state, permission state, sound selection, volume changes, settings, purchase flow, and update actions
- ✓ Device and app information: Device model, OS version, language, app version, and other information Firebase collects automatically
- ✓ Approximate region: Country, region, or city-level approximation, not precise GPS
- ✓ Purchase-flow events: Purchase and restore flow state; Apple processes payment-card details
Information Not Included in Analytics Events
- × Typed text or individual key content
- × The specific app in which you typed
- × Name, email, or address unless you send it to support
- × Precise GPS location or names assigned to audio devices
If you contact support, the email address and message you send are used to respond to the request.
Important: Local sound playback does not mean the app never communicates over the network.
Third-Party Services
Klakk may communicate with the following external services:
Google Firebase Analytics
Processes app-usage events, device and app information, approximate region, and purchase-flow events. Typed content is not included.
Apple App Store and StoreKit
Processes purchases, restoration, and entitlement checks. Klakk does not receive or store payment-card details; Apple’s purchase confirmation screen controls the displayed purchase model and renewal terms.
Klakk does not provide typed content to advertising networks or data brokers. Review the current policies of each external service.
Data and Network Boundaries
Typed content, local settings, analytics, and purchase or update traffic are separate data categories:
- Klakk is sandboxed by macOS for additional security
- Preferences are stored in UserDefaults and the trial first-launch date is stored in macOS Keychain
- Firebase Analytics, StoreKit purchase and entitlement checks, App Store update checks, and support links may use the network
- Code-signed and notarized by Apple

Right to Opt-Out
The current public version does not provide an in-app switch to disable Firebase Analytics. Contact support with data-processing questions.
Changes to This Policy
We may update this privacy policy from time to time. If we make significant changes, we'll notify you through the app or via email (if you've contacted us). Check this page periodically for the latest version.
Implementation alignment: We update this page when material analytics, network, permission, or purchase behavior changes.
