Input Monitoring and Privacy

Klakk needs macOS Input Monitoring so it can respond when a key is pressed outside the app. It uses key-press timing to play sound and does not record, save, or upload typed text, passwords, or individual key content. You can deny or revoke this permission in System Settings.

Why the permission appears

A typing-sound app must know when a key press happens to synchronize audio. Input Monitoring is sensitive access and should be reviewed before it is granted.

What Klakk does not collect from typing

Klakk does not record, save, or upload typed text, passwords, or individual key content. The permission is used to react to key timing, not to build a history of what you type.

Separate network boundary

Generated typing sound is played on the Mac, but Firebase Analytics, StoreKit, update checks, support links, and App Store links may use the network. Klakk is therefore not a zero-network app.

User control

You can deny or later revoke Input Monitoring. If the requested access does not match the feature you want, do not grant it.

Review Appleโ€™s permission guidance

For the current macOS controls used to review, allow, or revoke Input Monitoring, follow Appleโ€™s current guidance and the labels shown in System Settings on your Mac.
